A perfect plan

This devotional from Battlefield of the Mind reminds me of the scripture God gave me one year and five months ago:

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ (right up to the time of His return), developing (that good work) and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.   ~ Philippians 1:6

For we are God’s (own) handiwork is workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live).   ~ Ephesians 2:10

“… What does it mean to think that God has a perfect plan for us? Perhaps it’s the word perfect that troubles us. We’re fallible and make so many mistakes. How could anything be perfect in our lives? We know ourselves too well. Immediately we think of our shortcomings and shake our heads…. we are saved through Jesus Christ so that we can do good works. God has prepared us for the kind of life He wants us to live. His Word makes it clear how that life works… God holds out directions for a full, satisfying life. Our role is to align ourselves with that plan. We are to keep our eyes on Jesus and His ability, not on ourselves and our disabilities…. We are to be like Joshua, to whom God said, “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success” (Joshua 1:8). “

Blocked

Facebook in China is blocked. Many if my friends in China started to pop up and say that they cannot communicate with others in Facebook anymore because it was blocked in China few days ago.  I always wonder: how can you block the WWW! You can block a site in certain regions of the world because they use a different server then others?  A different network? A different cable? What if I bring a iPhone 3G over the border of China from America, will I be unable to access my Facebook webpage? Doesn’t it need a local network BUT transmit and receive signals from the satellite? Which is owned by US government? (Or private company?) I really have no idea how they do it! Sucker!

Song of Soraya

“He got rid of me.”
And the ceremony started.
Like a bride in her dress,
White as snow and pure as gold,
Her ring she gave to the eldest daughter
And her love for all of them.

Why bother to dig a hole on the ground?
It’s not like she has anywhere else to go.
The first stone was cast by the one who brought her up,
missed by a feet.
Still the second didn’t make it
so was the third.

“She is innocent! It’s a sign from God.” one said,
but immediately she was struck by the bone of her bones, flesh of her flesh.
Her dress turned red like crimson,
the sky started spinning above her head.

Maybe it’s better this way
So she can’t make out it was the ones who she gave birth struck her next, or the chaotic crowd.
There’s no more fear, no more expectation, no more uncertainty.
In Him she committed her spirit,
for she still has hope in Him.
The love in her will not fail.

Fever

What causes a fever? What temperature qualified to be called a fever? When a child is having a fever, does it mean that there’s bacterial infection going on? Should the child always see the doctor? What should be done when a child is having a fever?

These were the questions I was asked by the concerned parents of a almost 2y/o kid. I was glad that was not the first time I was asked such questions, and I think they were quite satisfied with my answers. It is because they spent less than 10mins with the doctor afterwards… ;b

Just found out that my mother is a Michael Jackson fanatic! She kept me up with all the news regarding the memorial activities for Michael. What a surprise! I just realized that she always surprises me, like today we went grocery shopping and everything that she saw she would say “yummy”. And I wonder, why is she so tiny if she likes to eat that much!

A short day

I planned to run some errands in the morning, meet a friend for brunch, go visit my friend’s newborn baby from yesterday, and stop by the clinic to do some work. However, because of the short of staff in the clinic, I ended up working eight hours at the place. Missed the chance for brunch and meeting the newbabe!

I thought about it now, I didn’t feel pressure into working and I would like to help. Somehow though, I felt sorry that I couldn’t accomplish what I intended to do for the day. Besides, who would care what I had put forth for filling up the need, not even the nurse who needed to bring her mother for emergency dialysis and that’s why can’t work. BTW, I was the one who almost instructed her to bring her mom to ER yesterday because of the urgency of the matter, even though she was unable to decide.

All these made me losing the energy and motivation, sometimes how meaningless things are. Hopefully I can still make up for the things I missed today toward the weekend, but I really want to rest my body. All the best to the newborn baby, and blessings to the family!

The Stoning of Soraya reminded me of the woman who was caught in the act of adultery and brought before Jesus. She was thougth to be Mary, who was guilty of such sin. But Soraya was innocent, it was her husband framed her for adultery so that he can marry a younger wife (14y/o girl).  Even though there were women stood up for Soraya, she was put to death by stoning, even from her own sons. On the other hand, there was only Jesus who was compassionated to Mary, and she was forgiven by the grace of God. What made the stirred crowd to drop the stones in their hands and left Mary alone? Was it because Jesus was a man? I think it’s because His word is mighty, he said “done” is done. Now I realised Jesus has once lived in such a male dominate society, still stood up for the oppressed and sinful women of the time. He is merciful and loving, there is none like Him.

It’s such a tragedy that MJ died! I considered him still young and very much king of the music industry. It is quite sad to lose this legendary artist especially of the western world.

Grace

Didn’t realize until now that God protected me today. A patient went bizard today, he almost jumped on the doctor and my assistant during examination. I was hooking up another patient coming back from xray on the other side of the examination room while the doctor went to see this patient who I previously triaged. He was stable emotionally and cooperative when I examined him, and I set him up to get ready for the doctor to see him. I was on the other side making sure this low blood pressure patient (60s/30s!! when first came in…) was back on the monitor and all his lines were running, and all of a sudden I heard my assistant saying “stop doing that now!” and the doctor said “@#$%^& Get out of here! #$%^&” a hard hit on the table and a call to the security for immediate assistance… I was puzzled, but felt unusual with nervousness. Once I made sure my patient was ok, I quickly walked over and saw my assistant standing in a corner and the doctor banging his fist on the table very very angry, and no patient in site!

By this time security already arrived and chased down the door, who later came back for the name to put it in record. For a brief moment the two of them were still upset, especially the doctor was out of his style element. I was glad that nobody got hurt and the other patient was safe. I was a little frightened even though I didn’t witnessed the process, I guessed it’s also because everyone was so upset. The doctor did apologize for being mad, which is very unlike any doctor because most of them do not apologize period. I told him I was glad that you guys didn’t get hurt, and that’s what matter! Later he told me that it’s God’s grace that I work there, that’s why he called me Grace. He was calling me that earlier today, and I didn’t know why and said that he worked too hard. Now I think it’s His grace that we’re safe, from harm’s way. He watches over me, protects me even without me realizing it.
