Fast

August 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

This is one of the things I will fast from – blogging. For a period of time I will fast from this space, so before I do…

I will start a new job soon, realized everybody was excited and happy for me. But I don’t have a slightest clue why they would, one thing for sure is that in God all things are possible.

I thought about going back to school for a long time, this particular one that I’m looking into closely is very attentive to my interest.  If things went well, I’ll lose all my jobs and most of my savings. Let’s just see how it goes, I believe that God would listen to my prayer.

I’m thankful to the friends who care for me, above all God who cares for me all the time.

究竟為誰?

August 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Good book

I would recommended all women to read  “The gift of fear” by Gavin de Becker, it provided some practical guidelines of following intuitions and sensing dangers. It also brings me to understanding about fear and how I should approach it. One of the many quotes from the book is quite interesting: “The very fact that you fear something is solid evidence that it is not happening.” Very true.

My new toy

August 9, 2009 · 2 Comments

With the arrival of my new toy, I’ve decided to carry it with me as much as possible just to make it money well spent! Took pictures of virtually nonmeaningful stuff is not in my intuition at all, so I have to make myself to take extra attention of things around me. Then I discovered that there are many things that worth taken a picture with, like the beautiful flowers that are blooming in this wonderfully hot Chicago summer. Numerous statures of all sorts in Chicago led me to pay attention to where they’re coming from.

Finally gave away my old Canon, found itself a new owner and hoping that it will work many more years to come. I’ve been very attentive to the Canon, unfortunately it fell from the top of a slanted TV box about 3 feet from the ground one day and the ring holding on the lenses bent… Pictures taken just as well but the lenses doesn’t contract back to dock like before. I even kept the original box it came from, now all packed and given to the new owner. All the best to my first DC, and looking forward to exploring my new toy :)

YNP recap

It’s a short enough trip to visit the park in full, too bad we didn’t have more company to join us or we could have ventured down south more to cover Bryce Canyon, Zion and even Las Vegas! It’s more like a tiring than a relaxing trip, but we spent more time to talk than we used to. And I just realized I didn’t participate in any group setting activity for more than 2 months at least. Then it dawned on me only true friends still keep in touch with me, and those who aren’t were just “fellowship dudes” … Tells me something about the North American culture of Chinese churches, or just us? I’m thankful that there are still true Christians around, who do care even though I’m not contributing much nowadays.

The wild

August 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Gray
Meandering between bushes
Following its target with sharp vision and scent.
Capturing its prey in his sight,
Disappearing once again behind the setting sun.

Black
All alone on the wasteland
A cub that was forgotten by its mother?
But He one said, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.”

Brown
Everyone stopped for it to cross the road.
With its huge body it slowly moved.
Who can guess it runs on the plain like a horse
Swim across the rapids like a trout.
What an amazing animal it is
The king of the Park.

White
With sharp vision locked onto its target
Dive with high velocity and catches its prey
Carry the food to feed its chicks.
Nested on the highest point of the landscape
A beauty in the sky when it spreads its wings gliding.
It’s the highlight of the visit.

Didn’t hear this from the News, only from this scientific article, is it true? Chinese are pretty top of the world wor!

I thought I need to recuperate from my trip last week, still couldn’t sleep too much! Went to a meeting this morning and leaving the doctor by himself… pulling his hair out for the time I was away! That made me laughed with tears ;D

A perfect plan

July 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

This devotional from Battlefield of the Mind reminds me of the scripture God gave me one year and five months ago:

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ (right up to the time of His return), developing (that good work) and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.   ~ Philippians 1:6

For we are God’s (own) handiwork is workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live).   ~ Ephesians 2:10

“… What does it mean to think that God has a perfect plan for us? Perhaps it’s the word perfect that troubles us. We’re fallible and make so many mistakes. How could anything be perfect in our lives? We know ourselves too well. Immediately we think of our shortcomings and shake our heads…. we are saved through Jesus Christ so that we can do good works. God has prepared us for the kind of life He wants us to live. His Word makes it clear how that life works… God holds out directions for a full, satisfying life. Our role is to align ourselves with that plan. We are to keep our eyes on Jesus and His ability, not on ourselves and our disabilities…. We are to be like Joshua, to whom God said, “This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success” (Joshua 1:8). “

Blocked

July 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Facebook in China is blocked. Many if my friends in China started to pop up and say that they cannot communicate with others in Facebook anymore because it was blocked in China few days ago.  I always wonder: how can you block the WWW! You can block a site in certain regions of the world because they use a different server then others?  A different network? A different cable? What if I bring a iPhone 3G over the border of China from America, will I be unable to access my Facebook webpage? Doesn’t it need a local network BUT transmit and receive signals from the satellite? Which is owned by US government? (Or private company?) I really have no idea how they do it! Sucker!
